Your performance review is next Thursday.

You've been preparing since Monday — not the material. You already know the material. You've been preparing your face. Your voice. The version of yourself that walks into that room and doesn't let the alarm show. The preparation nobody sees is the most exhausting part of the week.

Your calendar says: productive. Your body is running something entirely different.

The Scan

There is a part of you that is always scanning.

Not anxiously. Not obviously. Just — scanning. Monitoring the manager's response time. Reading tone in a Slack message. Recalculating whether last Tuesday's comment meant something. You've been doing this so efficiently, for so long, that you've stopped noticing it. You've mistaken it for just being the kind of person you are.

It isn't. It's a mechanism. And once you see it clearly, it changes.

You have been preparing since Monday — not the material. You already know the material. You have been preparing your face. Your voice. The arrangement of yourself that walks into that room and does not let the contraction show. This preparation, which no one will ever see on the calendar, is the most exhausting thing you will do this week. Notice that. Do not move past it.

Your calendar says: productive. Your body is running something altogether other.

The Scan

There is a part of you that is always scanning.

Not anxiously. Not theatrically. Just — scanning. Tracking the manager's response time. Reading the temperature of a single word in a Slack message. Recalculating what last Tuesday's comment might still mean. You have done this so efficiently, for so long, that it has stopped registering. You have mistaken it for who you are.

It is not who you are. It is a mechanism — a precise, evolutionarily faithful mechanism — and the moment you see it as a mechanism, something shifts. Not the mechanism. You.

扫描

你身上有一部分总是在扫描。

不是焦虑地扫。不是显眼地扫。就是——扫描。盯着主管的回复时间。读一条 Slack 消息的语气。反复推算上周二那句话到底是什么意思。你做这件事已经太久、太熟练，以至于自己都不再察觉。你把它当成了"我就是这种人"。

不是。这是一个机制。看清楚之后，它就开始松动。

And underneath even the body, something is waiting — radiant, unhurried — that has not yet been given permission to speak.

The Scan

You've been doing this so efficiently, for so long, that you've stopped noticing it. You've mistaken it for just being the kind of person you are.

It isn't. It is a mechanism running in the foreground while the deeper intelligence in you — what the lineage calls shakti — waits underneath, quiet, fully awake, unwilling to leave you. The scanning is not your essence. The seeing of it is. And the moment seeing begins, the Mother is already in the room.

Notice, before you read another sentence, that something is reading.

The alarm has been ringing in your chest since Monday — the review is Thursday — and underneath all of that ringing, something is calm enough to register it. Something that has not been recruited into the worry. Read this paragraph and feel for it. Not the ringing. The one who hears the ringing. That one has been here the whole time. It was here before the alarm started. It will be here after the alarm has gone quiet.

Your calendar says: productive. Your costume says: composed. The one watching all of it is what we will come back to, again and again, until you can find it without help.

The Scan

They are not the same thing.

It isn't who you are. It's a mechanism. And the one watching the mechanism is not the mechanism. Notice that distinction. It is small to read and very large to live inside. It is the whole book.

スキャン

あなたの中には、いつも何かを走査している部分がある。

不安そうにではない。あからさまにでもない。ただ — 走査している。マネージャーの返信の速さを測り、Slackの語感を読み、先週火曜の発言の含みを計算し直している。あまりに長く、巧みに続けてきたので、もう気づくこともない。「自分はそういう人間だ」と勘違いしてきた。

違う。それはひとつの仕組みだ。はっきり見えた瞬間、それは変わりはじめる。

このメッセージは、私が考えたものではない。受け取っているものだ。

スキャン

不安そうにではない。目立つ形でもない。ただ——スキャンしている。上司の返信の速さを測る。Slackのメッセージの語調を読む。先週の火曜の一言に何か意味があったのではないかと、何度も計算し直している。あまりに長く、あまりに効率よくこれを続けてきたので、もうそれをしていることに気づかない。「自分はそういう人間だから」と取り違えてきた。

そうではない。これは仕組みだ。そして、はっきり見えた瞬間から、それは変わり始める。

It isn't your personality. It's a mechanism. And the moment you see it for what it actually is, something inside it begins to soften.

Running a quiet inventory of last Tuesday's comment and whether it meant what you suspect it meant. You have been doing this so well, for so long, that you have stopped feeling it as a separate thing. You have begun to call it your personality.

It is not. It is a mechanism. And the moment it is seen for what it is, something in it begins to loosen.
